As Executive Director, Mr. Ford is responsible for establishing the Asset Management function focusing on value preservation and enhancement of individual assets to maximize the value of the entire portfolio. He and his team will partner with the leadership teams of hotel management companies at the property, regional and corporate levels to execute value enhancement opportunities and improve operational efficiencies to maximize the performance of Red Sea’s investments to yield superior investment returns.
With over 35+ years in the hospitality and real estate industries, Mr. Ford poses a global approach to the business with his broad international background having worked in five continents and 17 countries. Prior to joining The Red Sea, he served as Senior Vice President for Trinity Investments a private real estate investment firm covering the full spectrum of property investment, development, value-enhancing asset management, operations and repositioning, cross-border finance and tax strategies. It seeks opportunistic and cyclical entry points in asset-based and market investment strategies.
Before Trinity, Mr. Ford served as Senior Vice President for Host Hotels and Resorts Inc, a S&P 500 and Fortune 500 company, the largest lodging real estate investment trust and one of the largest owners of luxury and upper upscale hotels. Mr. Ford’s responsibility focused on Europe and Asia continents covering luxury, upper-upscale, and mid-scale assets flagged by ten distinct brands. His earlier role at Host concentrated on managing an extensive portfolio of assets in Washington, California and throughout Latin America.
During his residence abroad, Mr. Ford served on the Board of Directors of Triguna Hospitality Ventures Private Limited. A tripartite joint venture between APHV India (an investment vehicle of GIC Real Estate and Host Hotels & Resorts), Accor and InterGlobe Group. The organization developed and owned a portfolio of seven operating hotels across India with approximately 1,700 rooms and a commercial office tower. Mr. Ford also served as President, Hospitality Asset Managers Association - Asia Pacific.
Preceding his time at Host, Mr. Ford served as Vice President of Finance for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company where he provided financial and operational leadership to 24 luxury hotels and resorts, 10 condominiums, 3 fractional ownership clubs, and a private membership club. Furthermore, he held executive roles in hospitality with Marriott International in corporate, regional and property level positions.
Mr. Ford received a Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University, a Master of Science in Real Estate at Johns Hopkins University, a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Kentucky and received his Certified Public Accountant designation from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Mr. Ford is a member of the Hospitality Asset Management Association, Georgetown and Johns Hopkins alumni organizations. He has also served as guest lecturer for Glion (Switzerland), École Hôtelière de Lausanne (Switzerland), Georgetown (USA), and San Diego State (USA) Universities in their respective Hospitality and Real Estate Programs.
