Luxury hospitality big-hitters are headed to the kingdom.
As Saudi Arabia's tourism industry continue's to expand at a rapid rate, so do the luxury hotel brands making their debut in the region. With over 200 hotel projects estimated to currently be in the pipeline in Saudi Arabia, take a look at the upcoming luxury hotel openings to know about.
Assila, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Jeddah
Previousy operated as a Rocco Forte hotel, Assila has been rebranded as A Luxury Collection hotel and recently began welcoming guests. Marriott's first foray into Saudi Arabia with The Luxury Collection brand, the hotel features 210 guestrooms and 94 apartments including the 590 sqm Royal Suite, a rooftop pool, speciality restaurants such as a grill and Arabic Mediterranean fusion concept and contemporary spa. Its prime location sees the hotel situated 5km away from the planned New Jeddah Downtown waterfront development project.
Opening its doors in 2019, Saudi Arabia's first voco hotel is located 30 minutes from King Khaled International Airport, within easy access of the business district and some notable landmarks. Modern artworks and warm, bright and inviting interiors can be expected on entering this hotel and in keeping with the brand’s ethos, service is unfussy, relaxed, personalised and even playful, creating the atmosphere of a home away from home. There are 483 guest rooms and suites, each with cutting-edge technology including high-speed WiFi and high-definition LED television sets. Indian, Italian, Lebanese and international fare are on offer in the dining outlets, plus there’s a Pool Bar and a Rotunda Lounge. The brand opened a second hotel, voco Al Khobar, a month later.

Nobu Hotel, Riyadh
First announced in 2012, the hotly anticipated opening of Nobu Hotel in Riyadh has been pushed back several times, but is now set for this year. The luxury lifestyle hotel, the brainchild of actor Robert De Niro and chef Nobu Matsuhisa, is a modern, design-led architectural masterpiece; a 23 story, glass-panelled skyscraper touted as the first five-star luxury boutique hotel in the kingdom. Inside, Nobu Hotel Riyadh will feature 119 stylish guestrooms and suites, a stunning spa, a state-of-the-art fitness facility, exclusive executive club lounge and the kingdom’s very first Nobu Restaurant.
